In 1998, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors from University of South Florida (USF) and was one of the first recipients of the USF Latino Scholarship. She then earned her law degree from the University of Florida in 2001 and was certified by the FL Supreme Court to practice law in May 2002.

Biography:
Stacy Ortiz is fluent in Spanish. She joined Winer Law Group in December 2024 with 22 years of workers’ compensation experience. Ms. Ortiz was born in Bronx, New York but spent her childhood through her college years in Tampa, FL. Ms. Ortiz is the mother of Julianna (student attending H.B. Plant High School) and two precious dogs, Ginger and Daisy.
Following law school, she joined an insurance defense firm in West Palm Beach, FL where she defended self-insured employers and served as lead counsel for various companies for more than ten years.
In 2013, Ms. Ortiz relocated back to the Tampa Bay Area where she began exclusively representing injured workers. Her defense background provides a unique foundation to her practice as she knows how the employers and insurance companies approach workers’ compensation claims.
Ms. Ortiz has successfully litigated complex legal matters in several districts and has also prevailed in appellate matters. Ms. Ortiz is dedicated to assisting injured workers in obtaining the benefits they are entitled to and deserve.
